As an immigrant myself I feel very close to newcomers to this country and the demands we face inserting ourselves in this new world. Some of you came to this country as foreign students looking to deepen your career, others came following the American dream, to help your family to achieve a better education, obtain better opportunities and so on, but all of us feel the high level of demands of adapting to this new environment. This can cause anxiety, lack of peace and, for some, a feeling of the world is not worthy; this feeling of being defeated by reality can lead to clinical depression.
For some of you the sadness of leaving your land, family, friends, school, job and the comfort of the known world becomes a weight that is hard to sustain. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but rather a sign that your inner self is asking to regain the sense of worth that all of us deserve.
